Scott Fox to join Motherwell as Kilmarnock miss out on experienced goalkeeper

Motherwell have beaten Kilmarnock to the signing of Scott Fox.

The Fir Park side are locked in talks to finalise a one-year deal tonight.

Fox had also held talks with Killie boss Alex Dyer but Motherwell have moved to force through a deal.

Dyer had asked for more time but the 32-year-old was unwilling to risk their rivals pulling their offer.

Fox – who activated a relegation release clause – will now go in as back-up to try and dislodge Trevor Carson from the Motherwell No.1 spot.

Motherwell have also agreed a new two-year deal with defender Yusuf Hussain.

The 19-year-old was out of contract but has now committed until the summer of 2022.

He is expected to push into Stephen Robinson’s first-team squad this summer.

Fox's decision leaves Killie with no senior goalkeepers on their books.

Last season's number one Laurentiu Branescu has returned to Juventus after his loan spell while Jamie MacDonald rejected the offer of a new contract at Rugby Park and Jan Koprivec was released.

Youth product Devlin Mackay has also departed, and with Fox opting for a Fir Park switch Dyer's search for a man between the posts goes on.
