March 16--Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville may make several changes Wednesday night when the slumping Hawks take on the Flyers at the United Center.
One of most notable changes will be that Scott Darling will get the start in net, but Quenneville said Darling's start has little to do with how Corey Crawford and the Hawks have played of late.
Instead, Quenneville said this start for Darling was scheduled in advance to give Crawford a night off. Crawford has played in 57 games this season, which is just two away from his career high. Quenneville said he wants to rest Crawford some during the final weeks of the season to ensure he is ready for the playoffs.
"We looked at our schedule, we want to give (Darling) a home game, and it was the perfect time for this. This is where we anticipated him playing."
However, there might be other changes in the Hawks' lineup. Quenneville jumbled his lines at various points during the Hawks' practice, so expect some changes Wednesday.
Duncan Keith missed practice but is fine, Quenneville said. Teuvo Teravainen did not practice because he was sick. Teravainen "could play" Wednesday, according to Quenneville.
The Hawks' 5-0 loss to the Kings on Monday was their third in a row. They entered Tuesday in third place in the Central Division with 88 points, three behind Dallas and St. Louis, each with 91. The Hawks and Stars have a game in hand on the Blues.
