Dec. 11--BOSTON -- Scott Darling will make his third consecutive start in goal for the Chicago Blackhawks when they face the Boston Bruins on Thursday night at TD Garden.
The Lemont native is riding a personal three-game winning streak and will try to help the Hawks to their eighth victory in a row as they continue their four-game road trip.
"He's played well," coach Joel Quenneville said after the morning skate. "Every time he's been in the net he's been consistent, looks big (and) handles the puck well. Keep him going."
While starter Corey Crawford recovers from a left foot injury, Darling appears to be wrestling the backup goaltending job from Antti Raanta. The Finnish netminder will likely get a start during back-to-back games this weekend against the Islanders and Flames, respectively.
"Certainly, it's a healthy situation from where we stand," Quenneville said. "It's a competitive game and that's the business we're in."
Meanwhile, Crawford was a surprise participant in the skate, having arrived in Boston on Wednesday night. The veteran is sidelined with a left foot injury suffered Dec. 1 while leaving a concert in Chicago.
"Really, it's hard to say when I'll be back in the lineup," Crawford said. "It's just getting better quickly. I'm just trying to get reps in practice right now. We don't want to rush things either. It was nice to get back on the ice and see some shots from the guys again."
