Scott Carson goes from being linked with Nottingham Forest to 'heading for' Manchester City

Nottingham Forest were linked with him earlier this week, but now goalkeeper Scott Carson is reportedly set to join Premier League champions Manchester City.

According to Sky Sports, the former England international is on his way to have a medical ahead of completing a season-long loan move from Derby County.

The Reds were said to have made Carson a target as they looked to strengthen in the goalkeeping department – but that was before they secured the services of Brice Samba, on a four-year deal from French club Caen last night.

Carson has fallen down the pecking order at Pride Park and did not feature in the Rams’ opening game against Huddersfield Town on Monday.

It is unlikely the 33-year-old would get much more playing time at City, however.

If he does put pen to paper for Pep Guardiola’s side, it is expected he would have been brought in as cover for Ederson and understudy Claudio Bravo – with the top-flight giants having loaned out Arijanet Muric to Forest.

Carson signed for Derby four years ago and counts Wigan Athletic, Bursaspor, West Bromwich Albion, Aston Villa, Charlton Athletic, Sheffield Wednesday, Liverpool and Leeds United as his former clubs.

Forest , meanwhile, are now well stocked when it comes to goalkeepers. As well as Samba and Muric, they also currently have Costel Pantilimon, Luke Steele and Jordan Smith in the ranks.
