Scott Brown wowed by John McGinn as Celtic captain sends message to Aston Villa star after super showing

Celtic captain Scott Brown sent a message of support for John McGinn after his starring performance against Chelsea.

The midfielder was instrumental in the 1-1 draw and received several Man of the Match awards, with the Aston Villa man unlucky to see a shot crack off the underside of the crossbar.

And it seems Celtic 's skipper was among those watching on as he showed his appreciation for McGinn on social media.

The former Hibs man posted an image from the game on his Instagram feed.

Brown was clearly impressed with the Scotland star's performance as he responded, "Well played sir" also including a fire emoji.

McGinn won plaudits both for his performance in the draw but also for his words after the match.

Asked about the strain of playing so many matches over the festive period the Aston Villa man put it in the context of what the rest of the country is living through.

McGinn said: “We have a fit, young squad and we are very fortunate to be able to go and do our business - go and do what we love, which a lot of people aren’t getting to do at the moment.

“We aren’t taking that for granted and I’m sick of hearing coaches and players from other clubs complain about tiredness and fatigue.

“A lot of the country would swap places with us.”
