Outgoing Celtic captain Scott Brown has been backed for a return to Parkhead one day as manager.
Former Celtic Park defender Jackie McNamara has heaped praise on the 35-year-old midfielder after he signed a pre-contract with Aberdeen to become a player-coach under new manager Stephen Glass.
The decision brings down the curtain on an illustrious Celtic playing career which has brought 22 major domestic honours to Glasgow's east end.
However, McNamara believes that won't be a full stop on Brown's story at the club as he insists the Dons switch could kick-start an impressive coaching career.
"I think opportunity wise, he has a desire to keep playing. If I was to give advice it would be to keep playing as long as you can. The fact that he is going into a player coach role at Aberdeen, I think that's something he is looking to get into as well.
He told Sky Sports: "In terms of the coaching side of it, I think if he goes away and learns he might come back as the manager one day as well.
"He's been a fantastic servant to Celtic, 14 years.
"He's been a great captain, a great leader, and I think he will be a big miss to the dressing room and the fans, but he goes with everybody's best wishes and I hope that he does well.
"Mangers in the last number of years, with Brendan [Rodgers] and Neil [Lennon] spoke really highly of him.
"With the coaching side, I know he was doing coaching before Brendan came in and stopped that to focus on his playing career.
"But I think doing this role as well gives him the chance to put his foot into the coaching role as well. Although he is still playing, and I feel like he has a lot to offer on the field.
"I think it's a good move and I think he has the potential to come back to Celtic as the manager."
