Scott Brown takes Jeremie Frimpong under his Celtic wing as Leo Hjelde makes supporters feel their age

There's many ways to lead and Scott Brown has always set the standards for his team-mates to follow.

The Celtic captain demands plenty from his colleagues but also likes to have a laugh while putting in the hard yards.

Brown is always front and centre at every Lennonxtown training session and it was no different on Tuesday as the Hoops skipper was pushing the pace.

And he appeared to be showing summer arrival Jeremie Frimpong the ropes as the 18-year-old shadowed Brown and the duo enjoyed a giggle in the process.

The former Manchester City academy graduate is settling into Glasgow life quickly as he aims to make an instant impact with Celtic.

Hatem Abd Elhamed , who is currently first choice, admits he loves the competition for places with Moritz Bauer starting in the 3-1 win over Kilmarnock.

The Israel international said: "At big clubs you always have competition.

"You should have two or three good players in each position, it’s something positive. It makes you better as a player."

Frimpong certainly looks keen to stake his claim and will be pushing to feature in Wednesday's Betfred Cup quarter-final clash with Partick Thistle.

And the ex-City man isn't the only academy star looking to turn heads as Leo Hjelde also got the chance to impress during the session.

The 16-year-old, who joined in a five-year deal from Rosenborg, was in the middle of the action as he continued his development alongside the senior side.

The left-sided centre half is looking to follow in compatriot Kris Ajer's footsteps but is likely a year or two away from a first team exposure.

But Celtic must be pleased with his development to give him the chance to turn heads.

Hjelde will certainly make Celtic supporters feel their age as the rising star was born three months AFTER Martin O'Neill's side reached the UEFA Cup Final in 2003 - and he's in line to become the first post-Seville Hoops star.

The new generation is here and the Premiership champions are looking to reap the rewards.
