Scott Brown SFA hearing moved at Celtic's request as Hoops skipper hopes to avoid Rangers ban

Scott Brown has had his SFA disciplinary hearing brought forward a week in a move which could help the Celtic skipper avoid any potential ban for the trip to face Rangers.

The SFA confirmed to  Record Sport Online  that Brown 's case would go in front of the Hampden panel next Friday, April 26, after Celtic requested the hearing be expedited.

The case had originally been pencilled in for Thursday, May 2.

Brown was rapped by the SFA for "failing to act in the best interests of Scottish football" after celebrating in front of the Rangers fans following his side's 2-1 derby win on March 31.

An SFA spokesman confirmed the hearing date had been moved at Celtic's behest saying: "Clubs can request for a change of date for hearings and as long as it's a reasonable request the SFA will always try and accommodate."

Celtic face Hibs on Sunday before Brown's hearing next week. Thereafter they face Kilmarnock and Aberdeen before the last meeting with Rangers, at Ibrox, on May 12.

It means Brown would have to be slapped with a three-game ban if he was to miss the last meeting with Rangers of the season.

Celtic vowed to "vigorously" contest the charges levelled at both their skipper and the club in the wake of the explosive Parkhead encounter.

The club also face a fine for failing to control players and staff after a meleee broke out at the end of the game.

Brown was charged with breaching disciplinary rule 77. That states: "A recognised football body, club, official, team official, other member of team staff, player, match official or other person under the jurisdiction of the Scottish FA shall, at all times, act in the best interests of Association Football.

"Furthermore such person or body shall not act in any manner which is improper or use any one, or a combination of, violent conduct, serious foul play, threatening, abusive, indecent or insulting words or behaviour."
