Scott Brown SFA ban would leave Celtic boss Neil Lennon shocked

Neil Lennon insists he’ll be “surprised” if Scott Brown lands an SFA ban.

The Celtic captain’s disciplinary hearing is at Hampden today.

Brown faces a potential suspension for “not acting in the best interests of football” during the 2-1 win over Rangers last month.

Lennon has a contingency plan in place for the skipper missing tomorrow’s clash with Kilmarnock but reckons he’ll be shocked if he has to use it.

Neil Lennon recalls the Celtic chats with Billy McNeill he will always cherish

He said: “I’d be surprised if Scott gets banned but if he does we’ll have some-thing lined up for that.

“I’m not going to pre-empt anything but I’d be surprised if he got a ban for what people are accusing him of.”

Lennon is also set to hear Kieran Tierney’s scan results today after the full-back was sent to see a specialist for a pelvic injury.

The full-back hasn’t trained with the first-team this week and is a huge doubt for the Killie match.

One Hoops kid who may make an appearance this term is 16-year-old winger Karamoko Dembele.

Lennon said: “If all things go well you may see him around before the end of the season.”

Dembele won’t feature in the Killie clash but Lennon expects his senior stars to respond after he criticised them after last weekend’s 0-0 draw with Hibs.

The boss added: “We can’t afford for that to happen again. Sometimes they need reminding of their responsibility.”
