Scott Brown’s Rangers celebrations dismissed as no big deal by Celtic assistant John Kennedy

John Kennedy has hit back at the criticism Scott Brown received for celebrating beating Rangers.

The Celtic captain was hammered in some quarters for whooping up the win in front of the away fans.

Various pundits such as Jim White and Alex Rae claimed he showed a lack of respect.

Rangers full-back Andy Halliday especially took exception to Brown’s actions as both sets of players became embroiled in a rammy on the pitch.

But Celtic assistant boss Kennedy defended the skipper as he insinuated people are looking to be offended.

The 35-year-old said: "The final whistle goes and as always there’s a celebration. Scott’s on the pitch and does what he does.

"There’s nothing really wrong with it in my eyes but people take offence and it becomes an issue. For us, there was nothing in it."

Kennedy was speaking ahead of facing St Mirren on Wednesday – the same night Rangers take on Hearts.

If Celtic win in Paisley and their city rivals lose, the champions-elect will go 16 points clear in their quest to land 8-in-a-row.
