Scott Brown’s emphatic Rangers putdown over asterisk claim as he prepares for Celtic title coronation

Celtic captain Scott Brown has told Rangers they can "come and see my trophy" if they feel nine-in-a-row has been tainted by the season ending early.

A meeting of the 12 Premiership clubs today could rubber stamp the decision to end the season early on a points-per-game basis.

That will see Neil Lennon 's side crowned champions, despite still having eight games to play.

Brown was on BT Sport's Scottish Football Extra what he'd say to the Rangers fans who insist there will always be an asterisk beside Celtic 's ninth title in a row if the season isn't completed.

He replied: "I'd tell them to come around and see my trophy."

Rangers have previously insisted that only a full 38 game season can be considered official, and the Hoops skipper was asked what he'd say if it was the Ibrox club in their position.

But Brown is adamant he'd accept the Ibrox club being given the title if the situations were reversed

He insisted: "Obviously we want to play the games.

"But it's a different situation for us, we're in a strong position we know we were going to go on to 13, 16, 19 points clear because we're a top quality team.

"They, on the other hand, they came back, they were top of the league, they had their opportunity to push on and they didn't continue the run that they had.

"So I think from my behalf, and if I was in their situation, I think I would.

"Especially when the season was already won at the end of December..."
