Scott Brown's Celtic press conference in full as skipper turns tables on form query

Scott Brown turned the tables on a question over his form as the Celtic captain insisted he'll respect his manager's team selection.

The veteran midfielder has started all seven of the club's Premiership matches so far this season.

He acknowledges the competition for places in the middle of the pitch is only getting fiercer with the summer arrival of David Turnbull and boss Neil Lennon admits his captain may be rested on occasion to ensure he's in peak condition for the campaign's biggest fixtures.

And it appears Brown is well aware of debate over how frequently he should be involved.

The 35-year-old was asked how he would assess his own personal performance this season and quickly turned the tables.

He shot back: "You love this one, eh? How do you think I've been doing?"

Brown insists he'll respect Lennon's decision, citing the example of Odsonne Edouard, who was given a breather during Saturday's 3-2 win over Livingston.

"I feel fine," he continued. “It’s up to the manager.

“Sometimes he might think I need a rest, sometimes he might think somebody else needs a rest.

“Odsonne (Edouard) had a rest at the weekend there because he has played a lot of games and he was away with France.

“That’s up to the manager, he picks the team for that game depending on everyone’s form, how people are feeling, whether people have got little niggles as well.

“I have got great respect for the manager so, whoever he picks, we all stand by him.”
