Scott Brown's Celtic lawyer speaks out after star beats SFA charge

The lawyer who represented Scott Brown at his SFA hearing has revealed his delight at the verdict.

The Celtic skipper was cleared after being hauled up to a Hampden disciplinary on Friday over his conduct in the aftermath of the derby win against Rangers in March.

Brown was accused of "not acting in the best interests of association football" following a fiery clash at Parkhead.

The 33-year-old celebrated in front of the Rangers support but the case against him was not "not proven" on Friday.

And now sports barrister Nick De Marco QC has spoken out following his and Celtic's victory as he prepares to attend Saturday's clash with Kilmarnock.

De Marco, who works for law firm Blackstone Chambers, wrote on Twitter: "Delighted to have successfully represented Celtic captain Scott Brown in his case before the Scottish FA today - now looking forward to watching him play at the match tomorrow"

Celtic were believed to have fought the charge partly on the grounds the SFA were guilty of double standards.

A similar case emerged in 2017 where Rangers star Josh Windass escaped punishment for aiming a gesture at Partick Thistle supporters.

Windass was let off due to the SFA’s rule 200 - which deals with retrospective action for on-field incidents.

Brown, however, was rapped under rule 77 and Celtic wanted to know why as they defeated the charge at the national stadium.
