Scott Brown's burning Celtic question he must answer to himself as Gordon Strachan weighs in

Gordon Strachan insists there is no reason Scott Brown shouldn't start the Scottish Cup Final against Hearts.

The former Hoops and Scotland boss believes the captain has a huge role to play for the club, especially against in the Hampden showpiece against Hearts.

So far this season Neil Lennon has repeatedly substituted is skipper and in games against Lille and Kilmarnock Ismaila Soro has made his Celtic Park breakthrough.

However, Strachan reckons the experience factor Brown brings will be key as he predicts a physical encounter tomorrow as Celtic target the quadruple treble.

He told Football Pass : "The player himself has to say I'm an influence, and if the manager thinks he still has an influence on the pitch then he plays.

"The minute you feel you are not an influence, get out. I know for a fact that Broony still thinks he's an influence and the players there still think he is an influence.

"Sometimes in cup finals, and playing against Hearts because they are a physical side, you need somebody with know how.

"The last couple of games were football games, but in this one you will be standing toe-to-toe at times.

"I wouldn't advise that because I think Hearts can deal with toe-to-toe, I think you need to move the ball quickly and move them about.

"I see no reason why Scott shouldn't be playing that's for sure."
