Scott Brown reveals Celtic hopes for Ross County test event as he reacts to Nicola Sturgeon bombshell

Celtic captain Scott Brown is hopeful Saturday's Premiership clash in Dingwall goes well for the sake of Scottish football.

The Hoops' fixture at Ross County will be attended by 300 Staggies fans after being granted 'test event' status.

But that match, plus the weekend's other test event - Aberdeen against Kilmarnock - will be the only games to see fans present in Scotland for the near future after a key Scottish Government announcement.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon told Holyrood that the September 14 indicative date has been pushed back to October 5 for the great return of sports supporters.

Even that new date is wholly dependent on the suppression of a recent uptick in positive cases.

But Brown said: "It's hard playing in front of no fans, you can hear everyone chatting away, you can hear everyone shouting.

"But for us, it's all about getting the fans back in as safely as possible and let's hope we can do that very soon.

"I'm not sure what the First Minister said yet but we'll just have to abide by her rules.

"It'll just be good getting fans back into it, it's crucial that we get fans back into the stadium and that we start playing in front of them yet again.

"But as I say, we need to do it safely. This is a little test for us and let's hope it works well."
