Scott Brown points to Celtic rule change advantage as he sets out 'push boundaries' objective

Celtic captain Scott Brown admits the introduction of the five substitutes rule will give his side an added edge this season.

The SPFL has approved two extra substitutions for the 2020-21 season as a packed fixture list puts extra pressure on players.

However, there has been criticism of the decision on the basis that it will allow clubs with deeper squads an advantage - something Celtic 's captain admits will be the case.

Brown said: "The new five sub rule really benefits us.

"We've looked in the past and thought you could bring on four or five players at the time.

"We've got the option now so it's good for us."

The Hoops are going for a historic 10th title in a row, and the skipper insists they'll thrive under the pressure of retaining the Premiership title.

Brown insisted: "We know the pressure is always on us and the fans expect us to win week in week out and we thrive off that. It's about us going out there and putting in a performance that's good and attractive for the fans.

"I always want to win games whether it's in training, in front of 60 thousand or in front of nobody.

"We know it's going to be difficult playing in front of no fans but we've had a couple of test games and played well so we look to continue that on Sunday (against Hamilton).

"The gaffer instills that winning mentality. He was a winner when he played and he is a winner as a manager. He instills that into all the new players coming in and the younger players coming up."
