Scott Brown makes Celtic fitness claim as captain explains how he'll know when it's time to retire

Celtic captain Scott Brown jokes he'll know it's time to stop playing when his legs fall off, as he insists he's the fittest he's ever been.

The midfielder will turn 35 in June and has 700 club games under his belt, but continues to play almost every week for Neil Lennon 's side.

The veteran has already cemented his hero status with the Celtic fans and they could be seeing him in the armband for many years to come.

Brown told Sky Sports: "Everyone keeps mentioning I'm getting older and older but I'm enjoying the challenge, I still manage to keep up with the best of them.

"I think for me it's about trying to keep my fitness levels as high as I possibly can and trying to keep ticking out the games as long as I can.

"One day I think they (the legs) will fall off!

"I think that'll be the end of me. I'll be chasing somebody down the line and I'll just be realising: 'this is time to call it a day'.

"But for now I think I'm probably as fit as I have been, I've managed to keep the fitness levels at that maximum level for the last three or four years.

"As long as I can keep turning out results and performances, and we keep winning games, I'm available for selection."

As well as over 500 appearances for Celtic, Brown played 135 games for Hibs and has also won 55 Scotland caps.
