Scott Brown linked with vacant managerial role at Sunderland

Celtic hero Scott Brown is under consideration to be the next manager of Sunderland.

This is according to the Daily Record who claim that the former Parkhead captain has "entered the running in the last 24 hours to fill the hot seat at the Stadium of Light after the shock sacking of Tony Mowbray."

Brown has been out of work since being sacked by English League One side Fleetwood Town at the start of the season after a poor run of results.

And the 38-year-old could join contenders such as former Rangers boss Michael Beale in challenging for the vacant role.

Brown enjoyed a relatively successful first season at Fleetwood, keeping the side from relegation and reaching the fifth round of the FA Cup.

However, he departed Highbury after a difficult run of results was coupled with turmoil off the pitch due to the chairman Andy Pilley being jailed for 13 years due to fraud.

Meanwhile, Celtic are reportedly weighing up a January transfer bid for Aberdeen star Bojan Miovski.

The North Macedonian striker has been a hit with the Dons since he arrived at the club, scoring 18 goals last term, and notching 11 this season already.

The Sun now report that Brendan Rodgers is a huge admirer of Miovski with Celtic having scouted him during every match this season.

Celtic are looking to bolster their attacking options in January with Kyogo Furuhashi, Daizen Maeda, and Oh Hyeon-gyu all likely to be involved in the Asia Cup shortly after the new year.

The story also goes on to state that Celtic would need to pay a record fee for a player to be sold between two Scottish clubs to gain his services in the January transfer window.

That record currently stands at £4.4million, a fee that was paid by Celtic for Scott Brown from Hibs, but it is understood that Aberdeen are looking for more.
