Scott Brown left in stitches as Celtic tribute night stopped in its tracks by Garry O'Connor 'gear' quip

Scott Brown was left in stitches after Peter Martin joked that Gary O'Connor used to procure his "gear" for him at Hibs .

The Celtic captain was being honoured at a special tribute night at the SEC when Martin hit out with the cutting one-liner.

He was playfully mocking the Hoops midfielder's dress sense before dropping the double entendre that had Brown and actor Martin Compston sprawled across their seats in laughter.

His former Easter Road team-mate O'Connor has previously admitted his career went off the rails in-part due to cocaine-fuelled parties.

Speaking about Brown 's illustrious career, Martin said: "He knows what it's all about.

"He fights for Celtic , he earns a lot of money for Celtic. And, as you can see with all that money, the gear isn't the best.

"Even when he was at Hibs, he said Gary O'Connor got his gear for him..."

Martin attempted to continue but the hilarity breaking out all around the arena stopped him in his tracks.

When Brown and the audience finally composed themselves, Martin admitted that joke perhaps won't make the official DVD.

He added: "I think that bit will be edited out, to be honest with you!"
