Scott Brown IS a Celtic legend as John Hartson debunks Charlie Nicholas 'nonsense' claim

John Hartson insists Scott Brown IS a legend at Celtic - and says Charlie Nicholas is "at it" by claiming otherwise.

Brown will leave Celtic in the summer having spent the last 14 years at Parkhead.

He's won ten league titles including a storied Nine in a Row and he has been the face of the club during a hugely successful era at Parkhead.

He is a legend in the eyes of the fans, but former Hoops striker Charlie Nicholas raised the ire when he said the outgoing captain is undeserving of that tag.

He wrote in his Express column: "Scott Brown will be easy to replace on the field for Celtic. All this 'legend' talk is nonsense.

"A legend should have been the best ever player in a position or be remembered for doing something great like the Lisbon Lions."

But Hartson reckons those claims are no more than a cheap attempt at a wind-up.

He says Brown should be considered a legend at Celtic Park - and there's no other word for it.

Hartson told Go Radio : "I think Charlie's at it. What have you got to do to become a legend?

"He's made over 600 appearances for Celtic. He's won ten league titles, 22 trophies and he captained the quadruple Treble in the last four years.

"I just don't know where Charlie is coming from there, I really don't. I think he's just trying to noise people up."
