Scott Brown in self-deprecating Celtic admission as he details El-Hadji Diouf 'grief'

Celtic captain Scott Brown jokes that his only job is to "give it to the good players" as he recalls his most memorable match.

The 34-year-old has played over 500 games for Celtic, winning nine league titles, five Scottish Cups and six League Cups.

The veteran is the first to admit though that he's not the most technically gifted player in the world, and he described his role in the engine room in self-deprecating terms.

Brown said in a chat with Grant Hanley: "The most memorable game I've played in is probably the 2-2 with Rangers.

"We went down to 10 men, the goalie got sent off. I can't remember what happened but we went down to 10 men and I think it was Fraser who got sent off.

"We've played well, we've dug in deep, we're 2-1 down with 25-30 minutes to go and we start controlling the game.

"Going to Ibrox everyone knows what it's like, and we started to get that little bit of momentum. The ball's going in the box and coming back out, we're winning it again we're getting to the ball all the time.

"Somehow, and I don't know how this happened, Marc Wilson goes down the right hand side, chops back and for some weird reason I've managed to make it to the edge of the 18 yard box.

"Marc Wilson's played it back to me, I've chopped with my left foot and managed to curl it past Greegsy (Allan McGregor) in goal.

"To be perfectly honest my left foot's meant for standing on. Granty, you know what it's like: it's terrible!

"I'm made to run and pass. Give me the ball and I'll give it to the good players - do your job well.

"Somehow it's gone in the back of the net in front of 50,000 Rangers fans. The Celtic fans behind the goal: I don't think they even believed it had gone in the back of the net."

After his strike went in Brown turned to Diouf with his arms aloft, in a celebration now known as 'The Broony'.

"Me and Diouf had a lot of grief with each other over the year-and-a-half.

"Somehow he was standing in the right place at the right time, I managed to get the arms up.

"It was weird, because it was never planned.

"I'm not going to lie, celebrations are not my strong point!

"For some weird reason you just get it in the back of your mind: 'I'm going to hit this'.

"It's come to me, I've taken a good touch with the right foot, left, put it in the back of the net.

"Just as I've turned around I've seen him, and he was giving me grief the whole game."
