Aberdeen captain Scott Brown was involved in a fiery exchange with Robbie Neilson following the draw with Hearts.
The Tynecastle side had taken the lead when Liam Boyce rifled a penalty home in the early stages of the second period.
However, the Jambos were denied top spot as Funso Ojo converted Dean Campbell's cross to earn a deserved point.
Whistler Bobby Madden flashed five yellow cards in a feisty encounter which saw both sides stay unbeaten.
The on the pitch action continued beyond the full-time whistle as both sets of players and staff raged in the centre-circle.

Brown was pictured rowing with Neilson following the conclusion of the encounter, but refused to be drawn on what sparked the ire.
When asked about what sparked the on-field argument, Neilson said: "It was just one of those, both teams, both sets of players, managers like myself, we just want to win.
"There's always going to be heated exchanges at the end but from my perspective it's done and dusted. We move on to Dundee United next week.
"I always think as a player and a manager these things stay on the pitch. It's done and dusted."
Aberdeen boss Stephen Glass added on the incident: "I think anytime a manager gets close on the pitch something will happen"
