Scott Brown in cheeky Rangers dig as Aberdeen skipper references familiar derby scoreline

Scott Brown appeared to take a cheeky pop at Rangers as he lapped up his thumping Aberdeen debut win.

The former Celtic captain skippered the Dons to a 5-1 victory over Swedish side Hacken in the Europa Conference League.

And the significance of the scoreline wasn’t lost on the Hoops legend who enjoyed two famous derby victories by the same margin.

Brown was part of the Brendan Rodgers side who thrashed Rangers 5-1 in the first and last derby encounters of the 2016/17 Invincible Treble campaign.

As he savoured the Aberdeen win, the 36-year-old took to Instagram and said: "Great result and performance from the lads.

“Great to get fans back in the ground and on my debut as well. Plus really do like a 5-1 score line"

Celtic fans were living it and Brown’s new Pittodrie team-mates even got in on the banter as striker Christian Ramirez said " @ross_mccrorie he’s taking a jab at you with that 5-1 score line again mate….”

McCrorie was part of that Rangers squad but McCrorie was quick to laugh it off, stating simply: "@christianramirez_21 Broony man,” with a face palm emoji.

The 5-1 scoreline was also special to Brown from his time at Hibs, after winning the League Cup in 2007 with a drubbing of Kilmarnock at Hampden.
