Scott Brown in cheeky Celtic pal jibe as he teases Charlie Mulgrew after Dundee United switch

Former Scotland international Charlie Mulgrew has made his return to Scottish football with Dundee United.

However, that has opened him up to a cheeky dig from former Celtic teammate Scott Brown ahead of the season opener.

The former Parkhead defender has penned a two year contract after his summer departure from Blackburn Rovers.

He looks to be a massive addition at Tannadice as new boss Tam Courts makes his first signing.

Mulgrew took to Instagram to share his delight at returning to club where he spent time on loan as a youngster.

He posted to social media: "15 years later I’m back to where my first team career started. So thankful for this opportunity can’t wait for pre season to start at Dundee United."

He will start his second spell at the side against Aberdeen - with familiar face Brown lining up for the opposition.

Brown couldn't help himself in a hilarious jibe, commenting: "All the best pal. Looking forward to first game of the season. Be some race me v you."

The veteran duo will surely make up for any loss of pace with their experience, which could prove vital under their rookie bosses Courts and Stephen Glass.
