Scott Brown hints at future Celtic return in emotional final farewell to the Hoops

Scott Brown has said his final goodbye to Celtic this afternoon - and hinted that he could yet return to the Parkhead club in the future.

Brown is leaving the Hoops after 14 trophy-laden years in Glasgow, with his stint at the club seeing him cement himself as one of the club's most successful captains and a genuine modern day legend.

The veteran midfielder is turning 36 later this summer, and is heading for pastures new with new Aberdeen boss Stephen Glass, but Brown has hinted in his latest Instagram post that whilst he's departing it's simply goodbye 'for now'.

Writing on the social media site, he said: "It has come to an end of an era during which I have had so many fantastic times and met so many amazing people over my journey in the last 14 seasons.

"I’d like to say thanks to the board who put trust in me all that time ago and continued to believe in me until the very end of my time at Celtic.

"I have to thank my teammates I have had the pleasure playing with over the years who have been my rock. The managers who have given me confidence and made me push boundaries and keep my standards high.

"To everyone associated with the club who have made me feel like part of their family.

"A huge thanks to all of the supporters who have travelled the world supporting us over the years and I am sorry I didn’t have time to say goodbye in person.

"One last thank you to my family who have supported my dream over the years and had to put up with me throughout.

"Hopefully one day we meet again #quadrupletreble #9inarow @celticfc."

Brown is clearly emotional at the prospect of leaving Celtic but with the quadruple treble winner about to embark on a coaching career as assistant manager at Pittodrie, could we perhaps see him back in the home dugout at Paradise?

Given his obvious affection towards Celtic, you certainly wouldn't bet against it.
