Scott Brown held back from Hearts players as Celtic captain's anger boils over after Scottish Cup final

There were angry scenes at full-time at Hampden as Scott Brown had to be restrained as he celebrated his team’s penalty shoot-out victory.

The Celtic captain was held back by a member of club staff as he shouted towards the devastated Hearts players on the pitch at the national stadium.

Brown had been involved in a match-long spat with Steven Naismith, which seemed to start after the Tynecastle skipper stood on him in the first half.

Brown then got in Naismith’s face after his header led to Leigh Griffiths giving the champions the lead in extra-time.

He made a beeline for the Hearts forward as the rest of his teammates followed Griffiths towards the corner flag.

Hearts hit back though to force penalties, although it was Neil Lennon’s team that came out on top.

And Brown had something to say while The Hoops celebrated a historic quadruple treble, angrily remonstrating with a number of his opponents.

It’s not clear whether Brown was simply trying to rub it in or whether he’d been angered by something said by one of Robbie Neilson’s players.

It did seem however that his ire was directed towards Peter Haring.
