Scott Brown hails Celtic's Scottish Cup win and insists Neil Lennon should stay as boss

Scott Brown insists Neil Lennon should stay in charge of Celtic after guiding the Hoops to the treble.

The Northern Irishman came in with the club in a bit of turmoil after Brendan Rodgers' surprise exit and helped them get over the line in the league and in the Scottish Cup.

And Brown declared the treble Treble as phenomenal for the whole club as he celebrated the 20th medal of his career.

Lennon still isn't guaranteed the job on a permanent basis with the likes of David Moyes also linked with the position.

But Brown believes it should be Lennon who gets the job permanently.

When asked if the former Hibs manager should be handed the job next season, Brown said: "Yeah definitely. He's been fantastic since coming in. He came in to win a league and a cup and he's done that.

"It's due to Brendan setting things up for us and Neil has continued that. It's been a great season and I'm sure we will enjoy the celebrations now."

Brown fought back from injury to lead his team to the trophy and was his usual self in the middle of the park.

He was almost lost for words as he spoke about the success of the club as he said: "Phenomenal. It's a great experience. For us, it's phenomenal, for the fans it's unbelievable.

"That was people saying we had a poor season but we've done the treble again. That's the third season in a row now we need to push on for next season.

"It shows the lads relentlessness. We go one goal down, whatever happens they throw the kitchen sink at us but yet again we hold out. We defended well and we created chances and took them when we needed to.

"Definitely, they got lucky with a goal and yet again we tried to dominate play. Hearts came here and made it very hard. Made it a very physical game but we dealt with it.

"Nervous? A little bit. We believe in the spirit of the team and how we dictate play and we know if we turn up we win the game."

Odsonne Edouard grabbed both goals in the game and insists he had no worries when he stepped up to take the penalty that drew the side level.

Edouard added: "I'm happy to score today. I'm never nervous. When I take a penalty, I score the penalty. The atmosphere is great, it's the same when I play at Celtic Park, the fans cheer me up.

"The fans today win the treble one more time and I'm very happy."
