Scott Brown 'eyes' Celtic transfer raid with St Mirren also keen on move for Hoops fringe man

Scott Brown could raid Celtic for Scott Robertson with the midfielder told he has no future at the club, according to a report.

The legendary Hoops skipper is in the dugout with English League One outfit Fleetwood Town and he could return to his old club as he bids to add to his ranks. The 21-year-old has been told by Ange Postecoglou he won't be offered a new deal this summer with a host of clubs reported to be chasing his signature including St Mirren and clubs down south say the Daily Record.

The youngster was part of the squad for the recent trip to Australia for the Sydney Super Cup but with his future away from the Scottish champions, he could now move on next month when the January transfer window gets up and running. Robertson has previous experience of playing in England with successful loan periods with Gillingham, Doncaster Rovers and Crewe.

Neil Lennon handed Robertson his Celtic debut at the age of 18 in a Europa League clash with CFR Cluj. But Postecoglou has many midfield options in his ranks with competition fierce for game time or a spot in the squad. He has the likes of skipper Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate, Matt O'Riley, Aaron Mooy, David Turnbull and Oliver Abildgaard along with a number of fringe options.

He will now decide on his future in the coming weeks with his contract ending at the end of the current campaign.

Celtic have already moved to strengthen their ranks ahead of the window with the signings of Canada World Cup star Alistair Johnston and highly-regarded Yuki Kobayashi from the J-League.

Josip Juranovic could move the other way with interest high in the full-back - who is impressing in Qatar with Croatia.
