Scott Brown explains 'annoying' new barnet as Celtic captain shares sparky banter with club TV host

Scott Brown is known for his imposing, uncompromising style on the field and part of the Celtic captain's undoubted aura is in his stark, shaven headed look.

Like many of us in lockdown, Brown has gone for a different look, allowing his hair to grow back for a spiky alternative to his usual austere skinhead.

It makes the trophy laden midfielder look significantly younger, a point made to him by Celtic TV host Paul Cuddihy, but that doesn't mean he is happy.

In fact, it's already beginning to grate on the 35-year-old.

"Everybody's saying that (it makes me look younger)," he admitted. "It's got to come off.

"It's starting to annoy me a bit in the morning.

"The shower is dripping down and I always forget to properly dry it. It's different but it's what we have all done during lockdown."

But the frustration with his barnet clearly hasn't blunted Broony's appetite for banter, firing off a barb to the bald Cuddihy: "Obviously you've kept yours going!"

The quick witted host bounced back with a self-depreciating response saying: "This is it long!"

Brown returned to training with a small group of colleagues today as part of the phased return for the Scottish game.

And he admits the Hoops have adopted a softly-softly approach to ease stars back to top fitness after such an extended break.

He said: "There was me, Callum McGregor, Tom Rogic and James Forrest and there was another group on the other pitch just across from us.

"We did a little bit of running and a wee bit of passing.

"It was just the first couple of days, just to get your legs back working hard because some of the coaches maybe think we haven't been keeping on top of it.

"Most of the lads have been on that Strava, working hard, but it is just one of those ones where they have to make sure it is nice and easy the first few days before the hard work really does start."
