Scott Brown brands Rangers penalty record 'incredible' as he backs Brendan Rodgers

Scott Brown has described the lack of penalties conceded by Rangers in the Scottish Premiership as "incredible" and claims Aberdeen have little chance of receiving a spot kick in Sunday's League Cup final.

The Ibrox side last conceded a penalty in the league 23 months, and 71 games ago, when Lewis Ferguson netted in a 1-1 draw at Pittodrie in January 2022.

And Brown laughed when he heard the stats. He said: "Is that the last time they conceded a penalty?

"I’ve been retired that long .. since they last had a penalty against them (in the league)! That’s incredible, eh?

"It’s good to see VAR is working well! I don’t think Aberdeen will get a penalty on those stats! Wow.”

Brown has also backed Brendan Rodgers to be successful come the end of the season.

Celtic have failed to win three games in a row so far this season but the former captain feels his old boss can turn things around.

"Brendan will be calm and collected," he continued. "Sometimes you rage and sometimes you have that understanding.

"He will step back, he will reflect on the game and they will go again. They have got a big European game on Wednesday (Celtic play Feyenoord in their final Champions League group game tomorrow evening at Parkhead) and then Hearts at home on Saturday.

"He will be looking to bounce back as well. Hopefully they can change everyone’s mindset.

“January is coming around and there are a lot of players who will move out and move in. It is part and parcel of football. I am sure he has got his eye on a few."
