Scott Brown brands Glen Kamara racism 'disgusting' as Celtic captain stands with Rangers counterpart

Outraged Scott Brown has issued a definitive message that football will always conquer racism.

The Celtic skipper delivered a show of unity before kick-off as he walked over to the Rangers warm-up and hugged Glen Kamara before the 1-1 draw at Parkhead.

It comes after the Finland international was the subject of racial abuse against Sparta Prague on Thursday night.

And the bristling Hoops leader has offered his unconditional support to Kamara and anyone affected by abuse.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "Definitely, I think it's disgusting what's happened to be perfectly honest, it doesn't whether it is a Rangers player, Celtic player, or whoever it is throughout

"It should never be part of the game and it just shows we must take that stand on racism and and it's just that little bit of respect because it's a fellow professional."

On the game itself, Brown cursed his side's luck and Alfredo Morelos' ending his goalless record against Celtic as the Hoops skipper failed to credit the Colombian by name.

He he believes a chain of events before the interval eventually put paid to his side's chances of earning all three points.

He added: "For us, the first half we were exceptional, we could have had three or four, we got a penalty denied.

"It was a stonewaller, there is no need for Odsonne to go down, he chopped inside, we seen it at half time.

"It's one of those ones you in at half time 2-0 up and the goal changed the game, they managed to get back in the game but we've had enough chances.

'I thought we were very good throughout the whole 90 minutes."

"It's a bit unlucky as well, it's probably a foul on Jonjoe (Kenny), it goes out for a corner and gets a flick on and whoever scores at the back post as well, it's one of those ones

"I think today's team performance was miles better than we've been this season - we probably deserved three points as well.

"I don't think it's just this fixture, it's been a whole season for us, we've played some great football but we just can't get the ball in the back of the net.

"They have one shot on target and score one goal. It's been a hard season for us. We've come back and been really good in the last three games."

Brown also refuted any notion that his side are going through the motions with the title gone and second place all but secured.

The 35-year-old - wanted by Aberdeen - has warned his team-mates there is no time to rest on their laurels with major upheaval imminent after a season to forget.

He said: "The lads are still fighting, we've still got that pride in ourselves.

"We need to keep going, we've got a Scottish Cup to look forward to now, we've go a lot of games to look forward to and win as many as we can.

"We don't know what's going to happen in the squad so you're playing, whether it's John or a new manager, you're playing for your position as well."
