Scott Bain vs Neil McCann bust-up laid bare as Celtic keeper told 'hothead' boss to 'f*** off'

Paul McGowan has given the inside story of Scott Bain 's notorious bust-up with his then gaffer at Dundee Neil McCann.

The goalkeeper's career looked to be veering off the rails after a fall out with his boss but a loan move to Hibs then Celtic put him back on track.

Many were left bemused by the notion that Bain would be surplus to requirements at relegation haunted Dens Park but wanted by Brendan Rodgers for the Hoops title run in.

While a behind the scenes ruck was acknowledged at the time, Dundee midfielder McGowan has added some delicious detail to the story, revealing Bain's contemptuous attitude to his former gaffer.

Speaking on the latest episode of Open Goal's Keeping the Ball on the Ground, he told Si Ferry: "Do you know how he fell out with Dundee?

"We were playing a game. McCann always wanted to pass it from the back.

"One got cut out and he shouted over to McCann, 'f*** off'.

"Neil McCann came in, he's a hothead, and he said, 'what did you say to me?'.

"We were getting beat 2-0, and Bainy was like that, 'I told you to f*** off'.

"Instead of just lying, knowing what Neil McCann 's like...

"McCann was like, 'you wit?' and Bainy said, 'I told you to f*** off'.

"We were all just sitting and McCann was like, 'you told me to f*****g f*** off?'. He was right in his face.

"Bainy was just sitting there like, 'aye'. He didn't care."

"I'm thinking, 'f*** me!'

"McCann asked for the sub goalie to go and warm up but he never put him on. After that it was just a mess.

"He left him out but it's actually probably been the best thing that's ever happened to Bainy in all honesty."
