Scott Bain in Celtic 'steamroller' claim as he warns critics not to write off ten-in-a-row chances

Scott Bain insists Celtic ’s track record of steamrollering teams after the New Year means no-one should write off their chances of ten-in-a-row.

Neil Lennon ’s side are now 11 points behind Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table after they were forced to battle back from 2-0 down to rescue a point away to Hibs.

The Hoops have two games in hand in order to cut the gap, and given they’ve managed to put together relentless winning runs after the turn of the year in previous seasons, Bain believes they can do it again to claw themselves back into title contention.

"We have always shown it before," he said. "You have seen at the turn of the year the last three or four years, how we have really steamrollered teams from then on.

"There's a lot of games to be played, December is a really busy month, so we need the full squad to be together for that.

"Until you get to December, you want to be there or thereabouts, but you know in the months towards the end of the season when it really matters, you have seen this squad really pushes on and goes from strength to strength.

"Obviously we want to get that quicker in these couple of months but there's a lot of games to be played."

To achieve that level of consistency though, Bain is adamant that the stupid mistakes have to stop if they are to have any hope of claiming a historic tenth successive title.

And that means taking chance when they come as well as keeping things sensible at the back to ensure they aren’t chasing games in the manner they had to against the Hibees.

Scott Brown conceded a penalty that Bain saved from Kevin Nisbet, although jamie Murphy netted the rebound.

Slack defending then allowed Nisbet to make amends and meant the champions had a mountain to climb in the capital.

Bain added "We seem to be making mistakes and being punished for it, that's the way it is going right now. But it's a case of digging ourselves out of it and pushing on.

"I don't think we are too far off. We probably should have been way ahead before they scored."
