Scott Arfield lands Rangers 'best finisher' tag with lack of starts questioned by ex-Celtic ace

Scott Arfield has been labelled Rangers' 'best finisher' as Peter Grant questioned why he doesn't get more first team minutes.

The Light Blues attacker dug his side out of a major hole against Aberdeen as he climbed off the bench to net twice in added-time to secure a 3-2 win. His leveller came in the 94th minute of the game before he popped up again just minutes later to secure a dramatic three points and spark wild scenes in the away end.

Michael Beale opted to use him from the bench as well in his first game in charge against Hibs, but he is likely to get a chance against Ross County on Friday night in Dingwall after his Pittodrie rescue act heroics. Former Celtic star and ex-Dunfermline boss Grant believes he should be playing more from the start due to his runs beyond the striker. Speaking on Go Radio's Football Show, the ex-Dunfermline boss said: "We've said it probably for the last year in here. We think Scott Arfield is probably the best finisher at the football club.

"He plays in an area of the pitch that I find it surprising he doesn't play more often, because when you play with one striker you need people that get beyond the box.

"And before he's goal he'd made a few runs that hadn't been seen. You see young Connor Barron and he gets by him a few times.

"He done it fantastically well and he got his just rewards with his two goals."

Ibrox legned Barry Ferguson agreed and added: "That's what he does. He gambles, he makes late runs into the box and he's pulled Rangers out a massive hole last night."
