Scott Allan given brutal Hibs welcome as Paul Heckingbottom digs out horror clip from the vault

Having waited so long for a return to Hibs, Scott Allan could've been forgiven for expecting the red carpet treatment.

After all, the fans were ecstatic and the club's social media hyped up his comeback no end.

Easter Road is perhaps where Allan's best football memories lie and he's now back in Edinburgh to make more.

However, in a first meeting with boss Paul Heckingbottom , the 27-year-old was transported back to a time you'd think he'd rather forget.

Celtic loaned Allan to Rotherham in 2016 but he managed just 10 appearances in a miserable spell.

One of those was a 4-0 hiding against Heckingbottom's Barnsley side that also included Ryan Kent, an afternoon so bad Allan only started two more games.

But instead of shying away from that particular afternoon, Allan requested the footage be included in the presentation his new boss had prepared for him upon re-joining Hibs at last.

"I did ask for that clip, to be honest. I'd forgotten about it, we had a chuckle to that, but it's all good," Allan told Hibs TV . "The presentation, with all the in-detail stuff he's looking to work on, is excellent. When you see that it gives you real impetus going forward.

"I just can't wait to get on the park again and show what I can do.

"I'd heard for a few months before that Hibs were still interested and everybody knew I wanted to come back here.

"As soon as January came I got speaking to George (Craig) and Leeann (Dempster). We tried to get it done in January but it wasn't to be.

"But I'm just happy to be back. I feel at home, I've played my best football here and I just want to give back to the fans, they've given me so much over the years.

"I'm here for the long haul and I'm really looking forward to it."
