Scots woman with rare nasal cancer dies two weeks before dream wedding as heartbroken fiancé pays tribute

A Scots woman who was diagnosed with a rare form of terminal cancer has died just two weeks before she was due to marry the love of her life.

Gemma Mcgowan, 29, was one of just three people in the world to be diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the nasal cavity.

She was desperate to marry her partner Steven this summer after doctors said there was nothing more they could do but tragically died last night.

In a heartbreaking post Steven paid tribute to his "soulmate" and described her as the "life and soul of every party".

He said: "It is breaking my heart having to write this but yesterday morning my soulmate Gemma Mcgowan sadly lost her battle with cancer.

"She fought this horrible disease right to the end. She would always crack a smile and make light of the situation but that was just Gemma. She was the most kind hearted person you could ever meet, she was the life and soul of every party.

"Words will never be enough to explain how much you will be missed ma dear. I will miss you soo much, you will never be forgotten Arran will always know who his mum was.

"Take care of yourself up there at least you are not in pain anymore.

"Save me a seat at the big table I will see you again.

"I love you soo much RIP Geebs."

The pair, from Paisley, were due to get married on June 11 at Dalmeny Park House Hotel following an appeal and fundraiser by Wedding Wish Makers.

The organisation has now decided to pass on the money raised for the wedding to Steven and baby son Arran.

A post by Wedding Wish Makers said: "It’s with a heavy heart we are writing these words but sadly Gemma passed away yesterday. Our thoughts are with Steven, Arran and to all of their friends and family at this hard time.

"If you have been following our appeal you will know that we have been raising money for their wedding. We have made the decision to pass this money onto Steven and the couples beautiful baby Arran.

"The gofund me page will be kept up for another week if anyone would like to donate.

"Thanks again for everyone’s support."
