Scots woman who could die from pregnancy left devastated after losing surrogate

A Scots woman who has been warned that pregnancy could kill her has been left devastated after her surrogate has withdrawn.

Robyn Dalrymple, 27, and fiancé Ross Turnbull, 33, had been desperately searching for someone to carry their baby to help them realise their dream of becoming parents.

Robyn, from Kilmarnock, suffers from life-long conditions Crohn's Disease and Phenylktonuria (PKU) both of which affect her chances of falling pregnant and her ability to carry a healthy baby to full term.

Robyn's conditions mean the stress of pregnancy is so high risk it could kill both her and her baby.

The couple were delighted after telling their story back in April this year prompted another Scots woman to step forward and offer to be a surrogate mother for them.

The pair spent two months planning the pregnancy with the woman but sadly, due to medical reasons, she had to pull out leaving Robyn crushed.

The diversity model said: "After losing the surrogate we were totally devastated. It was crushing.

"We understand she has to take the correct medical advice and we are so grateful to her for coming forward to try and help."

The couple, who have been told adoption is not an option due to Robyn's health issues, are still hoping they will find a surrogate and are continuing to search for the person who can make their dreams come true.

Robyn said: "To not even have adoption as an option is heartbreaking for us too. All we want is to be parents.

"We are just trying to keep up our hopes of finding a surrogate. We just hope we can find her soon."
