Scots woman left in tears after botched haircut at Glasgow salon

A Scots woman was left in tears after a botched haircut at a Glasgow salon.

Horrified Cat Rowan had to look twice at her reflection when she realised her hairdresser cut five inches unevenly off her hair after asking for less than an inch to be trimmed.

The 27-year-old spent 10-years growing her luscious locks down to her waist but is now distraught to have a shoulder length cut.

Wanting to give somewhere new a chance, Cat decided to try out Mary Hair and Beauty in the west end of Glasgow.

Having seen them on Byres Road, Cat thought they looked like a stylish, high-end salon.

However, what was supposed to be a simple cut, turned into a nightmare for Cat.

After pre-paying £25 for a dry cut, the carer was left devastated with the final result.

Speaking to the Record, Cat said: "I went into the salon and I ask for a small trim. The lady gestured about an inch with her hand but I said 'no, less than that'.

"She cut off five inches.

"I sat in silence as I had to continue through because I couldn't leave the shop looking like that with half my hair cut.

"The asked me to put my head down facing the floor when they started cutting it so I didn't actually see how much they had taken off at first.

"There was a one and a half inch difference from the front right bit of my hair to the left. It completely sloped down and got cut much shorter at the back - it looked bizarre.

"I started crying when I got home and I asked my boyfriend to take photos. It was so much worse at the back. It was like a zig zag. I kept crying and I called them."

Devastated with the service, Cat phoned the salon and asked for a refund because she had pre-paid for the cut on a booking app.

The salon instead asked her to come back into the shop and Cat claims they soon turned bitter after she posted a bad review online.

Eventually she was able to receive a refund and had her haircut fixed at a different salon in Maryhill.

Cat was left further out of pocket after desperately trying remedies to help her hair grow faster.

She is now urging people to reconsider if they plan to go to the salon, due to the attitude of staff.

She said: "They never apologised to me - they didn't care. They also claimed to have only cut an inch off.

"I would avoid the place and always check the reviews before booking anywhere."

Mary Hair and Beauty confirmed they had provided Cat a refund but declined to comment.
