Scots warned after bogus BT workers caught hiding in gardens

A manhunt has been launched after 'suspicious' men were caught hiding in Scots gardens pretending to work for BT.

Two suspects were 'disturbed' outside Dundee properties on Seafield Road between 1am and 2am sparking a police investigation.

Residents have now been warned to be on alert after the pair claimed to be working for BT trying to fix problems with local WiFi.

They were then seen moving piles of wood from ongoing joinery work, and on both occasions ran off when challenged, using a plain white flatbed van to escape.

Witnesses have confirmed that the same men were involved on both occasion.

A spokes person for Police Scotland said: "We were notified of men in a back garden in Bellefield Avenue.

"From timescales involved and descriptions provided, we believe that the incident is linked to those in Seafield Road.

"Two men were seen, one described as in his 30s, about 5ft 9 and stocky build, wearing dark top and fluorescent hi-viz trousers, and the other as wearing all-dark clothing.

"While it is not unknown for firms to carry out work during the night, it is certainly unusual, and any legitimate workmen would provide proper identification or accreditation if asked to show it.

"If you have any information that could assist our investigation, please call 101 or speak with any police officer."
