Scots wanted to take part in daring game show inspired by Netflix's Squid Game

Scots can apply to compete in a new game show inspired by the hugely popular Squid Game. The show, which is currently the most watched series on Netflix, sees hundreds of cash strapped contestants compete in children’s games for a life-changing sum of money.

Contestants who fail to get through tasks pay the ultimate price in the fictional version. While this aspect of the programme will, of course, be removed from play, the remaining elements will be in place for the reality game show.

Squid Game: The Challenge will see contestants immersed in the universe of the hit show, with a string of "heart stopping games".

A huge cash prize of $4.65m (£3.9m) will be up for grabs in what has been branded as one of Netflix’s biggest ever social experiments - with 456 players taking part. And the show’s producers are on the hunt for daring Scots to throw their name into the ring.

Contestants must be at least 21 years old, have the legal right to reside in the UK and hold a valid passport for the period of filming. You must also be available to take part in the programme for up to four weeks. Filming is expected to begin in early 2023.

A spokesperson for co-producers Studio Lambert said: “You’ve seen the drama, now it’s your chance to take part in Netflix’s biggest ever social experiment! This supersized unscripted show turns the scripted world of the drama into reality.

“Real-life players will be immersed in the iconic Squid Game universe and will never know what’s coming next. Here they’ll compete in a series of heart-stopping games in order to become the sole survivor and walk away with a life-changing cash prize.

“With a fortune up for grabs, who will be an ally, who will you trust, and who will you betray in this ultimate test of character?”

More information on applying for the show can be found here.
