Scots vegans raging about café's use of Peppa Pig drawing to advertise bacon sandwich

Scots vegans have spoken out against a café's use of a Peppa Pig drawing to advertise a bacon sandwich.

The artwork was seen on a chalkboard sign at the Gordon Street Cafe on Edinburgh city centre's Market Street.

According to Edinburgh Live, the advert appears to show the popular children's cartoon character being 'added' to the sandwich.

A cartoon character from the show The Magic Roundabout which looks similar to a cow is also featured on the sign which has a yellow smiley face at the bottom.

Many vegans took to social media to express their disgust of the use of the drawings.

One person commented: “That’s going to make a lot of children question food. I support that but damn this is pretty sick."

An Edinburgh mum, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "Even if you are not vegan or vegetarian that could be really upsetting. My kids would be absolutely traumatised if they saw that sign, it's really not funny."

Another suggested that someone should 'use lipstick' to change the smiley face seen on the chalkboard to a sad face, while a third penned: “So insensitive.”

“That is horrid,” added another, “Every kids would be upset by this - like come on cartoon animals! Animals is bad enough without ruining the kid's find too! But munches!"

The café has been contacted for comment by Edinburgh Live.
