Scots urged not to travel on CrossCountry trains amid Christmas Eve strike action

There will be no trains between Glasgow Central Station and Edinburgh Waverley this Christmas Eve, travellers have been warned.

People across Scotland have been not to travel on CrossCountry trains on Christmas Eve tomorrow due to strike action at the rail firm.

A limited timetable of services will be in place while others may be cancelled as a result of industrial action by members of the RMT.

This includes the popular route between Glasgow's Central Station and Edinburgh.

Customers affected by the strike action will be able to use their December 24 ticket on services available both today and tomorrow.

If Scots opt not to travel as a result of the move, then they will be entitled to a full refund.

A spokesperson for the rail firm said: “Due to planned strike action by members of the RMT (The National Union of Rail, Maritime, and Transport Workers), there is a limited timetable on Christmas Eve, with the cancellation of many of our services.

“Customers are strongly advised to alter their plans and where possible avoid travel on those days.”
