Scots tycoon's daughter targeted in 'gangland vendetta' as home firebombed and beauty salon ram-raided

The daughter of one of Scotland’s richest men has been targeted in a suspected gangland vendetta, with attacks on her home and business.

Jennifer McLeish, whose dad is founder of railway maintenance firm QTS, Alan McLeish, has shut down her salon in Glasgow after a terrifying ram-raid.

The Record can reveal the attack on House of Aesthetics in Duke Street, Dennistoun, came a month after her home – next door to Celtic star Leigh Griffiths – was firebombed.

Jennifer’s Range Rover was blown up by a petrol bomb, which also set fire to the roof of her £500,000 home in Bothwell, Lanarkshire.

Police are not officially linking the crimes but sources believe the same gang is responsible.

One told the Record: “Both attacks came within a few weeks of each other and there’s no doubt that serious criminals are trying to intimidate Jennifer McLeish.

This would not appear to be anything to do with her own family or her father being wealthy.”

When Jennifer’s vehicle was torched in November, Griffiths’ partner, Caitlyn Melville, was forced to flee her house next door.

Witnesses reported popping sounds then a massive bang and the car was completely destroyed.

House of Aesthetics – which specialises in Botox, nails, lashes and other cosmetic procedures – was targeted on December 16.

A video sent to the Record shows the car reversing forcefully into the shop front.

Two men in balaclavas get out and attempt to get into the shop.

One hits it with a hammer or crowbar then leaps back into the car before it speeds away. A car was later torched in nearby Grierson Street.

At the time, Detective Constable Paul Fraser, of Shettleston CID, said: “Two men were seen to get out of the car and attempt to get into the shop. We believe they left empty-handed.

“They are described as wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.

“A car was later set on fire in Grierson Street and inquiries are under way to establish if this vehicle was linked to the incident at the shop in Duke Street.”

Alan McLeish, managing director of QTS Group (Kilmarnock Standard)

After the incident, Jennifer, 35, posted on Instagram: “Due to recent events at the salon, I have taken the decision to close it permanently.

“After years of university to get into the aesthetics industry, while raising two little kids on my own and building two successful salons over the past five years, I’ve recently been working less and less as I’m happier at home just being a mum.

“At the moment I’m unsure when I’ll be taking appointments again or where I’ll be working from or if I’ll open a new salon.”

McLeish sold QTS – based in Strathaven, Lanarkshire – for £80million in 2018 after starting the business with the help of a £300 loan from his mum Anne.

Jennifer’s step-mum Phyllis, who split from Alan two years ago, is on the board at Kilmarnock FC.

Police Scotland confirmed they are aware of Jennifer being the victim in both criminal attacks.

They have not made any arrests in connection with either.

The Record asked Jennifer to comment.
