Scots TV presenter Lorraine Kelly snubs rape-clause fan Esther McVey in awkward GMB clip

Scottish TV favourite Lorraine Kelly has earned "new found respect" from fans after throwing shade at rape-clause fan Esther McVey.

An incredibly awkward moment between Lorraine and took place on Good Morning Britain earlier today.

Fans are now convinced that there is some "beef" between the 59-year-old and the former Work and Pensions Secretary.

GMB presenters Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, along with guest McVey, were carrying out a live link to Lorraine to promote her show.

"If looks could kill" - Lorraine Kelly appeared to throw shade at Esther McVey (ITV/GMB)

Susanna asked the Glasgow presenter if she remembered McVey from their days on GMTV, the morning show which they both used to work on.

Her cheerful persona then appeared to drop, as she issued a blunt stony-faced reply: "Yep. Yes I do".

Piers Morgan couldn't resist pursuing today's awkward moment, asking: "So you got on with Esther then Lorraine?"

A flustered Lorraine replied: "I don't remember, I don't remember, I don't remember at all. It was a long time ago."

Morgan went on: "Ooh if looks could kill!"

Tory leadership contender Esther McVey was on GMB this morning (ITV)

Viewers flocked to social media immediately after the awkward snub, debating the potential history between the pair.

One wrote on Twitter: "New found respect for Lorraine Kelly. Her ass is on fire this morning . Scottish through and through. You go girl."

Another added: "I think Esther McVey should be a guest on Lo rraine - it would be the first time ever that Lorraine doesn’t ‘really really like’ someone, or think they’re ‘amazing’ or ‘really really love’ everything they do..."

A third said: "You just know lorraine has got something juicy on EsterMcVey # gmb... we want answers."

And on Facebook someone wrote: "Ooh now then, something’s gone on between Esther Mcvey & Lorraine Kelly!!"

Tory axewoman McVey was dubbed McVile during her previous stint as a junior minister at the DWP.

She was a hardline supporter of the hated bedroom tax and the imposition of the shambolic universal credit system.

Last April McVey also sparked outrage at Holyrood when she headed north and defended the hated child tax credit cap in front of astonished MSPs and welfare campaigners.

And McVey t.

McVey is one of 12 Tories in the running to replace Theresa May as party leader.

The other candidates are: Boris Johnson, Dominic Raab, Michael Gove, Andrea Leadsom, Jeremy Hunt, Rory Stewart, Matt Hancock, James Cleverly, Sajid Javid, Kit Malthouse and Mark Harper.
