Scots tractor driver rushed to hospital after vehicle flips over in icy conditions

A driver has been taken to hospital after his tractor skidded out of control on an icy road in Fife.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the A921, near Otterston Loch, shortly before 1pm on Saturday, January 23.

The single track road to Goat Quarry, near Aberdour, was blocked by the green tractor which landed on its side during the crash.

The Scottish Ambulance Service has taken the driver to hospital to be checked over as a precaution but he is not thought to have suffered any serious injuries.

Police Scotland said that while the vehicle has been recovered, the road remains closed to allow for gritting to take place.

A force spokesperson earlier tweeted: “The road running from the A921 to Goat Quarry, passing Otterston Loch, is currently closed due to a road traffic collision.

“Please avoid the area.”

Sharing pictures from the scene, South West Fife Police added: “The overturned tractor has now been uplifted but closures will remain in place until the road has been gritted.

“Access for residents only. Driver taken to hospital as a precaution.

“Thanks to the Scottish Ambulance Service and the recovery company for their assistance.”
