Councillor Graeme Campbell, 52, says he is quitting local politics after he was repeatedly targeted by fire yobs.
The Conservative, who serves on South Lanarkshire Council, has suffered three chilling attacks on his family home in Strathaven in less than two years.
He believes it’s because he spoke out against gangsters.
At the start of last year, his car was attacked by a firebomb that also damaged the home he shares with wife Fiona.
Acid was thrown over two cars months later.
The latest attack has been linked to the same criminals who threw the liquid over the cars.
Police said the last arsonist would have sustained heavy burns during the firebombing.
Meanwhile, former Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell, 61, and his family fled in terror after three vehicles on the driveway of his mansion were torched in a 1am attack on May 19.
And last year, police launched a separate probe after cars parked at Rangers goalie Allan McGregor’s Glasgow home were set alight on two different occasions.
