Scots Tiger King superfan creates mind-blowing Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin inspired make-up looks

A talented Scots make-up artist has transformed herself into Tiger King’s Joe Exotic in a tribute to the hit Netflix show.

Shannon Burt, from Dunfermline, also created her own version of animal-loving Carole Baskin and a fierce looking tiger just in time for Halloween.

The 22-year-old, who works at Lime Salon in the town, has been keeping her skills sharp during lockdown by using herself as a canvas with impressive results.

Sharing the trio of looks with the Daily Record, Shannon told how she became a big fan of the show earlier this year.

The artist said: “At the beginning of lockdown, I was absolutely obsessed with Tiger King.

“I binge watched it in maybe a couple of days and then my dad started watching it so I rewatched it again. So I know quite a bit about it.

“I’m actually really glad that I ended up doing the series of looks because it was so much fun.

“Everyone was really impressed and said they hadn’t seen anything like it before.

“Joe Exotic took me about an hour and half which was quicker than I thought. I was walking around the house and catching myself in the mirror. I even gave my brother a fright

“The moustache was painted on so it wasn’t itchy or anything.

“Halloween is a Saturday this year so it would’ve been the best year for it but now we can’t do anything because of Covid.

“I’ve been doing more makeup on myself now because I don’t think we’ll be going back to normal until next year and I do really miss doing it.

“I’m just using myself as a canvas instead of my clients. It actually has been really fun doing it.

“When I was doing my clients, I didn’t really have the time to do it on myself. But I think I’ve found a new passion by doing it on myself.

“Rather than making everyone else feel good, I’ve just turned myself into guys. It’s great.

She added: “I love makeup because there’s no limitations with it. You can go from making someone so beautiful for their wedding, to being so creative and artistic.

Shannon Burt has been qualified for around three years (Shannon Burt)

“I’m quite inspired by drag makeup as well and there’s just no boundaries - there’s no one telling you that you can’t do this or that.

“There’s just so many possibilities which is amazing.

“I’ve been qualified for about three years now. I actually joined Lime salon doing hair and then my boss put me through a hair and make up qualification at the same time.”
