Scots thug who hurled shot glass at pub drinker traced by his 'bright white teeth'

A joiner who hurled a shot glass which hit a pub drinker was identified after witnesses described his “bright white teeth”.

Liam Walkingshaw was in The Buccleuch in Dalkeith, Midlothian, when he threw the glass during an argument, hitting bystander Scott Ritchie, 32, and slashing his face open.

The tanned 26-year-old fled before police arrived but witnesses identified him by his gnashers.

Walkingshaw, of Gorebridge, Midlothian, admitted behaving culpably and recklessly.

Prosecutor Eilidh Yates said Scott had been in the pub last December 29 when an argument broke out between two groups.

Security camera footage showed Walkingshaw with a glass in his hand which he threw 6ft into Scott’s face. His victim needed several stitches to cuts above and below his eye.

Ms Yates said a witness told police the thug had “bright, white teeth”.

Edinburgh sheriff Peter McCormack yesterday ordered Walkingshaw to pay £800 to his victim.
