Scots thug shouted 'we will kill you' while waving knife at eastern Europe neighbours

A racist who screamed "Polish b*****, we will kill you" - putting residents from eastern Europe living in a block of flats through a frightening midnight ordeal - is facing jail.

Damien Reynolds, 25, kicked a door, screamed the death threat, swung a steel chain, and brandished a knife almost a foot-and-a-half long, during the incident at the flats in Stirling 's Cornton district.

Falkirk Sheriff Court heard that residents were disturbed by loud noises at 12.40 am.

One eastern European resident woke up his partner, and asked her to contact the police.

Prosecutor Katie Cunningham told the court: "A noise from the stairwell, including a sound like an object being struck against the metal banister, was heard.

"The witnesses then heard kicking and the accused shouting at a door in the close, 'Come out, Polish b******, we will kill you'."

Two people in the flat where the door was being kicked had to hold it shut, because they feared it was going to be kicked in.

Miss Cunningham said: "The kicking and banging at the door went on for about 10 minutes with the accused shouting and swearing for them to come out.

"The accused was [then] heard shouting that he would be back."

One of the eastern European residents in the close then opened his front door to see if Reynolds had left, but Reynolds had not.

Miss Cunningham said: "He ran back upstairs towards the resident, shouting 'come on' in an aggressive manner.

"He had a large kitchen knife, about 40 centimetres long, in one hand - and a chain in the other. He was swinging the chain and brandishing the knife."

The incident, on Adamson Place, Cornton, occurred on June 26th 2019.

Reynolds was arrested the next day and taken to Falkirk Police Station.

He was interviewed, and denied any involvement in the matter.

Reynolds, of Stirling, appearing from custody by video link, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to using racially-aggravated threatening and abusive behaviour, likely to put a reasonable person in fear and alarm.

Defence solicitor Alastair Ross invited the court to obtain background reports.

Sheriff Derek Hamilton deferred sentence for these until November 24th.

He continued Reynolds' remand.
