Scots theatre legend Allan Stewart's delight as BTS Dynamite son tops US charts

Scots theatre legend Allan Stewart has told of his joy after a song written by his son topped the US charts.

David Stewart, 30, co-wrote and produced hit tune Dynamite in his bedroom at his dad’s London home.

Released by K-pop boyband BTS, it smashed a 24-hour YouTube record, receiving 101.1million views on its first day.

It has also made history as the first song by a Korean act to go to No1 in America.

And Allan said he and wife Jane couldn’t be prouder of their boy.

Panto star Allan said: “We are very excited for David and so incredibly proud of him too.

“He was just three-years-old when he made up his first song – Bod-e-da – and since then music has been his life.

“As a young lad, I always dreamed of having a hit record and now I’m living vicariously through him.”

Speaking about his hit, co-written with Jessica Agombar, David said: “We did something that has brought joy to people in such a horrible time. Actually, it’s greater than something that says No1.”
